Full Day Algarve Jeep Tour

We were picked up at our hotel by our very friendly and knowledgeable guide Tony and headed out to the Algarve interior. When we got to the countryside, we went into the hills on dirt roads. Tony would often stop to tell us about the cork trees and eucalyptus trees and identify local plants and herbs. The drive was quite exciting through the rough and curving roads with beautiful scenery below us. We stopped at the firewater distillery and went up to the highest mountain in the Algarve for a panoramic view. The afternoon was topped off with a delicious Piri Piri chicken lunch. The tour was a perfect combination of excitement and education. Thanks to Tony for his good humour and excellent knowledge.

Absolutely 5 Star day out
Our driver Rue was brilliant, made our day great fun.
Many stops to find wild herbs, almonds,aloe, cork.
Beautiful quiet off road countryside. Rue opened the land rover roof so we were able to stand up & get the best views.
Stopped to taste local firewater, delicious honey & jams.
Piri piri chicken for lunch

Take a day out and get away from just laying around the typical holiday pool or beach. Was lovely to see some of the sites of 'inner' Portugal, with the people, the villages, the markets, plantations etc.
Downside was driving around dirt tracks got a bit tedious after a few hours, and the lunch meal of chicken & chips again could have had more thought put into it!
Overall worth the trip and would recommend

This is a good day out for anyone who wants to see traditional Algarvian/Portuguese life in the mountain/countryside. Our driver was very knowledgeable in the plants and nature of the local area, showing us all different kinds of fruit trees, vegetables and flowers.
The jeep picks you up from your hotel at 9:30 and drives you into the deeper Algarve region showing you all different types of traditional Portuguese villages, farms and houses. At around 11 am we stopped off for a coffee at a local café (not included in your package) for 15 minutes or so. After this the driver took us to a house where a lady weaves baskets by hand and you can buy any of her made products for cheap. After this you afre taken to another farm house and you get to taste wild strawberries, varity of fresh jams, honey and Portuguese firewater. at around 2pm you are taken to a hotel here you will have you inclusive lunch which consists of a soup starter, peri-peri chicken wings, chips and salad main and a fruit dessert alongside water, juice or sangria. Once lunch is over you will be driven through more local villages before finally being dropped back to your hotel at around 4:30.
This is a good trip to do for anyone who wants learn about traditional Portuguese lifestlye and see the true beauty of the Algarve for themselves
